e•mer•gence
/əˈmərjəns/

  1. The process of coming into being.
  2. Order arising from chaos. When the existing order is disrupted a higher order complexity emerges in which novel, coherent structures form. i.e., people, society or the universe.
  3. A surprising powerful dynamic force. The new structures result in radical novelty, coherence, wholeness, coherence and powerful dynamic force resulting from emergent new order is surprising in its power.

We are living in an ever-increasingly complex world. The world’s VUCA challenges cannot be solved through first tier perspective or shallow personalities.

And, simultaneously, we have been living in a pandemic of meaninglessness.

Yet, you are the seed of your creation.

You, and everything you create, is a holographic representation of what lives inside you. Every science from cell biology to quantum physics to human consciousness demonstrates that what we create in the world is a product of our internal milieu. Our way of being in the world and what we think results in the experience of our lives. Not vice-versa.

The science of emergence suggests that when you disrupt the individual parts of a system, whether it’s you as an individual or your organization or business, you release the attachments to the existing patterns of the status quo. This causes your “system” to differentiate and ultimately to coalesce into something novel. Innovative. And outrageously impactful.

Emergent systems are more whole and responsive to the world.

They are more intrinsically diverse and inclusive, as they take into account all organic elements of their ecosystem. And they are not tied to the old way- the paternalistic paradigms, traditional hierarchies or infrastructures based in resource consumption and depletion at the expense of the people or planet.

The world is too complex to solve VUCA problem with old solutions, understanding or infrastructure. The world needs innovators, visionaries and entrepreneurs who are ready to build their dreams rooted in purpose and based in emergence.
